Below is a glossary of the ingredients that go into making our all natural and organic health drinks.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an ancient medicinal herb native to India and northern Africa with multiple health benefits. It is often used to reduce anxiety and stress, lower blood sugar levels and cholesterol as well as increasing brain function and memory.

Assam tea

Our organic hand rolled whole leaf Assam tea is produced by a co-operative of 6 small scale tea growers in India. They harvest the finest Assam tea and in turn are paid fairly helping to bring sustainability to their rural community.

Buchu

Native to South Africa, Buchu has been utilised in traditional treatments for a vast number of ailments across the globe. It is said to improve kidney and bladder health, aid digestion and boost the immune system to pick out a couple of key highlights. As well as it's health benefits it also has an incredibly pungent aroma of blackcurrant and peppermint.

Cane sugar

Raw cane sugar from the Native Green Cane Project in Brazil. The Green Cane Project, launched in 1987, is the largest sustainable agriculture project in the world . The organic production of Native Cane Sugar creates ideal living conditions for more than 340 different species of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. To them, sustainable agriculture is the one that generates biodiversity by restoring the ecological balance at the farms, exerting positive social and economic impact on the community.

Caraway seed

Caraway seeds are loaded with fibre and contain several important minerals, including iron, magnesium, copper and calcium. These seeds are rich sources of essential oils and contain a dense supply of antioxidants. This cocktail of goodness will contribute to reducing inflammation, as well as encouraging healthy digestion.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a calming flower that can help reduce anxiety, increase immunity, aid in digestion and regulate blood sugar. Chamomile contains flavonoids that are a type of nutrient present in many plants, and they play a significant role in chamomile’s medicinal effects.

Coconut

Coconut is highly nutritious and contains essential minerals, amino acids, healthy fats, fibre and antioxidants. This combination can be great for promoting weight loss, reducing cholesterol and control blood sugar levels.

Coriander seed

Coriander seeds are rich in antioxidants which have been attributed to boosting the immune system and acting as an anti-inflammatory as well as having neuroprotective effects. Oils contained in the seeds may accelerate and promote health digestion.

Echinacea

Echinacea is a plant native to North America and is packed full of antioxidants. It has been shown to boost the immune system, act as an anti-inflammatory, reduces blood sugar levels and helps to relieve feelings of anxiety.

French oak

Our kombucha is fermented with French oak. Although labour intensive and costly this results in a healthy kombucha with a depth of flavour that is impossible to replicate using industry standard production methods.

Juniper

Juniper has a long history of being used as an ingredient in food and drink as well as medicine. It provides a piney/spicy note to our barley water which perfectly compliments the aromatics of buchu. In terms of health benefits it contains a multitude of nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants which are thought to promote heart health and act as an anti-inflammatory.

Lemon balm

Lemon balm can help soothe symptoms of stress and anxiety, help relaxation and boost your mood. Studies are currently looking at the effects of lemon balm in improving cognitive function, including how it improves memory and concentration.

Lemon peel

Lemon peel is an incredible source of vitamin C as well as a host of other antioxidants including D-limonene. D-limonene has been linked to a reduced risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Pearl barley

Pearl barley is high in both soluble and insoluble fibre which will provides the body with useful energy, keeps the digestive system healthy and reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. In addition to its high fibre it also contains a beneficial mixture of vitamins and minerals, these help to balance gut bacteria and can contribute to reducing blood sugar levels. As if that wasn’t enough it also prompts the body to release hormones that regulate appetite by making you feel fuller for longer and boost metabolism which can contribute to weight loss.

Rooibos tea

Rooibos tea is naturally caffeine free. Rich in antioxidants that help protect the skin and reduce inflammation. Rooibos is particularly low in tannins. This makes it a good choice for those who prefer a milder tasting tea or for those who experience digestive problems following the consumption of tannin-rich drinks.

Rose

Roses contain powerful antioxidants that help neutralize free radicals and contribute to good health. The edible petals are also high in vitamin C.

Sencha green tea

Our organic Chinese sencha green tea is produced by a committed network of 9 small-scale organic producers from a region famous for porcelain and high quality tea. Sencha green tea is not treated or processed in any way therefore it better retains its nutrients and active ingredients. It is high in antioxidants and is thought to be very good for stimulating the metabolism.

S.C.O.B.Y.

Our kombucha is created by combining organic tea, organic cane sugar and a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast). A SCOBY is the living home for the good bacteria and yeast that transform sweet tea into tangy fizzy kombucha. Our SCOBY's are all grown in house and unlike many commercial breweries we don't cut corners by using off the shelf starter liquids.

White peony tea

Our organic white peony tea from Vietnam is a very special Fairtrade White tea. Some of the wild trees from which the tea is harvested are thought to be more than 300 years old. They have deep roots which are able to access minerals in the soil which give the tea its characteristic flavour. White Peony tea is minimally processed and thus doesn't undergo a long oxidation process. Rich in antioxidants and a particular amino acid L-theanine that can reduce stress and anxiety.
